DC Metro board bans the 1st amendment
They say they “did not specifically discuss any ad.”
Really? There was nothing controversial going on at the time?
“However without the broad ban, Transit Authority officials likely would have been forced to publish the Muhammad cartoon.”
This is the cartoon that won the contest in Texas.
The issue is Pamela Geller’s demand to put ads on the side of the buses. The ads certainly are controversial, but Geller says “Giving in to terrorist threats … only encourages more terrorist threats.”
I think it’s more than that. I think giving into the terrorists emboldens them, makes them feel stronger, as they believe we cower in fear to their might.
